Cleaner Fuels & Technologies

There are three primary approaches to reducing diesel emissions:

  • Cleaner Fuel Use: The Collaborative is fuel neutral and supports “cleaner” forms of diesel fuel and alternatives to diesel fuel.
  • Engine Retrofit: The Collaborative broadly defines diesel engine retrofits as engine replacements, repair, retrofit (aftertreatment controls) or repower.
  • Idle Reduction: There are numerous technologies and practices that can be used to reduce unnecessary idling from trucks, locomotives and marine vessels.
